Flughafen Zürich AG and Microsoft Switzerland have entered into a strategic partnership for digitalisation of THE CIRCLE. As well as maximum quality, convenience and efficiency, the partners aim to deliver a uniquely personalised digital experience to tenants, employees and guests at the airport’s new destination THE CIRCLE.

The strategic partnership between Flughafen Zürich AG and Microsoft Switzerland fires the official starting gun for planning, developing and implementing digitalisation in THE CIRCLE. Digital interconnectivity at THE CIRCLE will completely revolutionise the way people work, shop, travel and enjoy their leisure time. In turn, this will boost the attractiveness of the new destination at Zurich Airport while further driving Switzerland as a leading location for innovation. Over the coming months, Flughafen Zürich AG and Microsoft Switzerland will work out the details of their digital vision for THE CIRCLE together with future tenants.

Digital experiences for tenants, employees and guests
The IoT platform (Internet of Things) planned by Flughafen Zürich AG and Microsoft Switzerland will also support customer-focused digital services that will offer an entirely new experience to employees and guests in THE CIRCLE. These digital services will help guide people through the networked space in THE CIRCLE and enable them to communicate with product and service providers in novel ways. For instance, a virtual concierge and a digital wayfinding system are planned from the outset. Digitalisation will allow retail, restaurant and congress tenants in particular to interact with their customer base in completely new ways.

Digitalisation creates competitive advantage for THE CIRCLE tenants
The partnership will create significant added value and a clear competitive advantage for existing and prospective tenants. Tenants in THE CIRCLE will be able to utilise creative concepts to position themselves in the marketplace and win new customers. New workplace concepts and flexible forms of collaboration supported by digital solutions will additionally help tenants make optimum use of their office space and adapt it to the ever-changing needs of the organisation. Innovative control and operating concepts will further improve quality in and around the buildings, enabling THE CIRCLE to be operated more efficiently and driving down costs.

THE CIRCLE at Zürich Airport
The construction work is proceeding apace, and the buildings are now visible. With all the bustle of an international business district, the new destination will become a focal point for business and lifestyle as well as for brands, medicine, learning, culture and entertainment, hotels and congresses. Flughafen Zürich AG and Swiss Life AG have formed a joint ownership company, with Flughafen Zürich AG holding a 51% stake and Swiss Life AG 49%. Construction will be completed at the end of 2019, and it is scheduled to open in 2020.
